Moisture is one of the causes of this spread of DBD. The Jakarta Health Agency, the Meteorological, Climatic and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have studied the link between air humidity in Jakarta and new cases of DBD.

"Mosquitoes prefer moist places," said Widyastuti.

The study also predicts that the five zones of Jakarta are considered to be in a state of strong dengue alert, with an estimated humidity rate of 76% for West, South and East Jakarta.
