Caleb was badisted by Dr. Eleanor Naa Norkor Light
When a young patient, Caleb Giftan, insisted that his books be delivered to the hospital, he did not know that he would need a qualified doctor to teach him science.
Caleb's family became anxious after starting to complain of left-leg pain one afternoon in November 2018, when he returned from school.
The family began by finding supernatural remedies because she suspected the 'mysterious disease' of being a case of spiritual attack.
As the state of the last year of high school deteriorated, he was transported to the LEKMA hospital in Teshie (Accra) on January 15 for treatment. After which he asked his mother to get him his textbooks, a request which was duly accepted. to the admiration of Dr. Eleanor Naa Light Norkor, who volunteered to badist her in her revisions.
Impressed by his love for his books despite his health problems, Dr. Light took advantage of his free time to explain some topics related to general science and mathematics, while calming him with words of encouragement.
Abdul Salam, older brother of Caleb, who shared photos of the doctor and his brother on social media, expressed gratitude to the management staff, doctors and nurses at LEKMA Hospital for their professionalism and their dedication to service.
He added that despite several criticisms of the Ghanaian health system, the sacrifice of some workers should not be overlooked, as it helps to improve the physical and psychological well-being of patients.
Salam said he hopes his brother, who is now in a wheelchair after losing control of his lower limbs, will be back in time to join his colleagues at school.
Now released, Caleb, a student of Manle Dada JHS, in Accra, says her situation continues to improve day by day and hopes to be fit for the next exam, which will be postponed from 10 to 14 June 2019 instead of a precedent. June 3rd to 7th.
The Ghana Education Service, in a statement of 8 November 2018, urged heads of primary schools to review the revised date and prepare candidates accordingly.
More than 500,000 registered candidates are expected to attend the BECE organized this year by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
