The club of Seville, with a capacity of nearly 61,000 spectators, was chosen before the home of Mestalla in Valencia for the right to organize the match.

Last year's final was played at Wanda Metropolitano, of Atletico Madrid, where Barcelona beat Sevilla 5-0 to win the trophy for the fourth consecutive season.

This is the first time that the venue of the final is announced before the finalists are known.

The competition this season is at the quarterfinal stage, the return matches being scheduled for this midweek.

The Betis are still in the tournament, having drawn 1-1 against Espanyol in the first leg last week.

This will be the fourth time that the final of the Copa del Rey will take place in Seville, but the first at the house of Betis, twice winner of the trophy.
