Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, advised the public to disregard any media reports suggesting that the government had sacked eight chief executive officers of state-owned companies for the account of their age.
According to the Minister, although the President has the prerogatives to engage or disengage any CEO of a state-owned enterprise, the President exercises these powers in accordance with the established process.

"Even though it remains the prerogative of the president to engage or disengage the services of the CEOs of state-owned enterprises, he exercises these powers after the necessary prior commitments," said Mr. Oppong Nkrumah during the meeting. A press conference on Monday 28 January 2019 in Accra. .
He added that "if the President chose at any time to disengage the services of any Director General, this would be done as always, in accordance with the established process," noting that "contacts between the government and the general managers State are common ".
The media reported last Friday, January 25 this year, that the government had asked eight CEOs of state-owned companies to leave their positions because of their age.
