The Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) congratulated GCB Bank for its continued support to the media, especially financial journalism in Ghana.
He added that continued financial and technical support for financial reporting and media development in general has a positive impact on the profession.
In a letter of thanks to the Bank's management and signed by its chairman, Rayborn Bulley, FIJE acknowledged the Bank's gesture.
He says, "The management of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists wishes to express its deep gratitude for the support and collaboration that has been made in recent years, especially for your unprecedented support."
"Your belief that the brand is a way to reward the quality of reporting on critical issues in the economy encourages us to continue to hold workshops to deepen the understanding of various sectors of the economy for our members. A better informed press is always beneficial for nation building and we appreciate your support, "said the letter.
GCB has sponsored IFEJ Flamingo Awards since its inception five years ago.
The award aims to recognize journalists who have produced compelling reports on financial and economic issues.
The involvement of GCB in the prices and activities of the FIJE contributes to improving the financial and economic knowledge of its audiences.
The Bank believes this will help educate the unbanked population to a better understanding of the banking sector.
The IFEJ Awards were created about five years ago to recognize journalists who have distinguished themselves for improving reporting on financial and economic issues.
