The Minister of Tourism of Jamaica, the Hon. Edmund Bartlett and the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange jointly approved "Year of Return, Ghana 2019".

The year of return is an initiative of the Government of Ghana that aims to encourage people of African descent to visit Ghana.

The two ministers congratulated the president and the people of Ghana for taking this initiative to consolidate Ghana's pan-African heritage, which goes back to the relations between the leaders of the Caribbean and Ghana.

The Honorable Grange said that Jamaica hoped for a successful year back. "We will work with Ghana for a successful year. Jamaica is observing the International Decade of People of African Descent and it is therefore very timely that we work together. "

She added, "As Jamaicans, we are proud to see that our reggae music will be the soundtrack to the Year of Return."

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana, Hon. Catherine Afeku led the delegation composed of deputies and representatives of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
