Actor John Dumelo called on politicians and their supporters to stop stereotyping creative personalities who support political parties.

The NDC activist said that Ghana was a democratic country, so everyone, including celebrities, should have the right to declare its political position.

The actor revealed that he had been threatened repeatedly because of his NDC affiliation.

The actor, who spoke out over the years about his political affiliations and ambitions, joined the NDC in the campaign leading up to the 2016 general election to maintain power.

In December 2018, Mr. Dumelo also chose forms to participate in the by-election of the constituency of Ayawaso West Wougon.

However, the Deputy National Director of Communications of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) indicated that Mr. Dumelo was not qualified to participate in the contest because he was not voting in the constituency.

Although he withdrew from the NDC primaries for the by – election, the party 's constituency office said it was for personal reasons over which the actor did not. had not commented yet.

The actor added that even if he was getting money to change party, he would not do it.

"It's not a question of money. People think that NDC gave me a lot of money but it was all based on the fact that I believed in what they were campaigning for, "he said.

He claimed that he would not victimize his fellow actors or actresses who support the NPP or another party.

Mr. Dumelo said that he would never wish to see the NPP in power fail because it would belong to another party.
