Dr. Dominic Kwame Obeng-Andoh was arrested for the death of a NEIP Vice President
Dr. Dominic Kwame Obeng-Andoh, owner of Obengfo Hospital, was released by a circuit court if the case had been tried for operating a health facility without a license.
The court chaired by Ms. Priscilla Dapaah Mireku made the decision on the basis of "lack of prosecution".
In her decision, the judge explained that the Crown had failed to comply with an order to provide Mr. Obengfo's lawyers with certain documents necessary for the trial after several warnings.
She expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that the prosecution had handled the case in a manner contrary to the rights of the accused.
The judge added that the prosecution could be brought by the accused when they would be ready to continue the case.
Dr. Obeng-Andoh was the subject of an investigation following the alleged death of the Deputy Director General of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Program (NEIP), Stacy Offei Darko, in her medical establishment.
According to the mother of the deceased, Nana Akosua Animah, her 37-year-old daughter fell ill and sought medical attention at Obengfo Hospital, but died after her admission.
In January 2017, the medical and dental council closed the Obengfo hospital for its illegal operation.
This was the second lawsuit the company was facing after the board revoked for the first time Dr. Obeng-Andoh's 2013 license for illegal logging.
Dr. Obeng-Andoh was arrested in December 2016 on the same subject after the Dental and Medical Council said he had received several complaints of medical complications from people who attended the school.
According to counsel, Dr. Obeng-Andoh's practices were dangerous to the lives of his patients, resulting in the decision to end his operations.
