Alangdi appeared in court for the first time today after being arrested by police last Friday.
Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangdi, the two men accused of killing Adams Mahama, expressed different feelings during their first appearance today in the Central Accra Court.
While Alangdi collapsed in court and was crying, Afoko expressed outrage at the turn of events, describing the police and all the case against him as a lie.
"Adams is my sister's son. Why are you still distorting history … always twisting it? Ooooh Ghana, it's a shame, "he said.
Alangdi appeared in court for the first time today after his arrest by the police last Friday in Ivory Coast, while Afoko was appearing for the first time in court after the court ruled. State had deposited a report without further action.
The non-proclamation follows the arrest of Asabke Alangdi in Côte d'Ivoire last Friday.
Alangdi was on the run since the death of Alhaji Mahama in May 2015 in Bolgatanga.
Alhaji Mahama was seriously injured after an allegedly acidic substance was allegedly poured outside his home in Bolgatanga around 11 pm. May 20, 2015. He later died as a result of his injuries at the Bolgatanga General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the two men were provisionally charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
The court, presided over by Ms. Efua Sackey, placed them in custody and remanded the case on February 12, 2019.
