Thiel, 51, has faced a failure as a visionary technology and investor superstar, but also in support of US President Donald Trump.
In the years since Thiel's advice, Agarwal has traced his own path of entrepreneur and leader by building a team of more than 10,000 employees and partners, nicknamed "OYOpreneurs" and encouraged to take on charge their own projects.
But Thiel's advice echoes Agarwal's advice to other budding entrepreneurs.
"My advice to others in a similar situation would be to trust his instinct, to be open to learning and growing, and especially to surround himself with people who bring more to the table, in terms of 39, ideas or prospects, "said Agarwal.
He added that this council applies particularly to Indians who, more than ever before, are thirsty to become entrepreneurs and benefit from programs like the one that helped them.
"I think hunger and growing aspirations among young Indians will lead to an entirely new and successful ecosystem," said Agarwal.
