Parliament should give priority to three crucial bills at the beginning of its first meeting of the year.

Bills include the secular Bill on the Right to Information, the Bill on Positive Action and the Bill on the Code of Conduct.

The bills should be discussed in depth and adopted in the coming days.

Clbad91.3FM parliamentary correspondent Ekow Annan said that, while making his opening remarks on the resumption of the plenary session of the Christmas holidays on Tuesday 29 January 2019, the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye, said that the legislature becomes a for-profit enterprise by building a hotel to make money for the home.

While reiterating Parliament's commitment to enact the RTI bill, the majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said the work done so far could not be attributed to the pressures of well-meaning civil society groups or Ghanaians.

Haruna Iddrisu, leader of the minority, urged lawmakers to be punctual and diligent in the performance of their duties.
