Philippe Coutinho scored twice while Barcelona beat Sevilla 6-1 at Camp Nou to seal a thrilling victory in the Copa del Rey on Sevilla and qualify for the semi-finals.
Sevilla won the first leg of their clash in the quarter-finals 2-0 by preparing a return match in the stands in Catalonia. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were back for the LaLiga leaders of Ernesto Valverde.
Coutinho, much maligned this season, inflicted a penalty in the 13th minute after a foul from Suarez, but the turn of the match came from the other end of the field.
Sevilla was given a penalty in the 25th minute, but after a long delay, substitute goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was saved from Ever Banega – and Barca quickly counted.
Ivan Rakitic opened the ball five minutes after Sevilla's penalty fell for Barca to reach level 2-2 on aggregate and leave the field open for the second half.
Coutinho added his second half of the match eight minutes into the restart with a diving header, and Barca had full control two minutes later when Sergi Roberto took a deep shot in the corner.
Guilherme Arana allowed Sevilla to return in the match with 23 minutes to go to leave Barca 4-2 ahead of the match, but the goals of Luis Suarez and Messi scored. – and send a warning to the rest of the pretenders at Copa.
