Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong
Reverend Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, former secretary-general of Ghana's Christian Council, has issued an alert about churches and pastors selling bottles of water and bottles of sobolo at exorbitant prices at name of miracles to make Christians believe Public.
"Now you have pastors selling water. You buy water, Bel-Aqua, Voltic and [tell church members to] now come and buy it at GHS1,000. You buy this at the company for how much? And now you have pastors selling "sobolo" [for] GHS2000. [This is] corruption in the church, in the name of God, "he complained in an interview with Benjamin Akakpo at the Clbad91.3FM Executive Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
Dr. Opuni-Frimpong, among others, also calls for the regulation of the country's churches. "As the Ghana Bar Association is able to do, just as GJA is able to do, the GPRTU and various other professional bodies are capable of doing it, we must do the same."
"We can have self-regulatory arrangements supported by law. For the moment, what the Christian Council and other agencies do is voluntary, but we can have an arrangement that has some level of legal support to self-regulate, and those that will not belong to none of them, the laws of the land must apply because you can not go in the name of God and prophesy to dehumanize people.
