LONG BEACH, Calif. – The latest in a complaint that a California hospital has thrown out a patient with dementia (local time):

A California medical center announced that he would meet relatives of a patient with dementia, claiming that the woman had been placed in a taxi and thrown in front of her house in the middle of the night.
The Long Beach University Medical Center said Wednesday that it complies with all regulations regarding patient release, but plans to discuss the matter with the 84-year-old Savina Zerbi's family.
The security video shows Zerbi trying to open the door of the Regency Palms Memory Care Center at 2:17 pm on Jan. 13, then walking down an alley and returning several times before he can enter.
The hospital said Zerbi had refused his offer of badistance for transportation and had insisted on being brought home. It also states that a family member and the care facility have been informed of his leave.
The Orange County Register indicates that the woman's daughter has filed a complaint with the California Department of Public Health.

According to Southern California News Group, the woman's daughter, Costanza Genoese Zerbi, has filed a lawsuit with the California Department of Public Health against Long Beach College Medical Center.
The security video shows Savina Genoese Zerbi, 84, trying to open the door of the Regency Palms Care Center at 2:17 pm, then walk around a driveway and come back several times before you can penetrate.
The press group reported that she had been sent to the hospital after threatening to kill herself.
A call for comments from College Medical Center was not immediately postponed on Wednesday.
