Ivan Perisic coached alone at Inter Milan after apparently meeting with club officials on Wednesday night to try to resuscitate his transfer to Arsenal.
The Gunners were in talks with Inter over an agreement on Croatian winger Perisic – but an admission of director Piero Ausilio where he claimed that his team had not yet received an appropriate offer for the winger's services – suggested that the agreement was canceled.
And this was fueled by reports that Arsenal would have changed Perisic's target to Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco, with the Gunners thought to be rather looking for the closure of a movement for the former man of Atletico Madrid.
However, Perisic did not quite badimilate the move to Arsenal. Sky Italia The report is desperate to get a transfer to Arsenal before the closing of the transfer window at 11 pm.
The Croatian winger has been informed of the transfer request, as reported last weekend. But while Arsenal only wants a loan, Inter wants permanent cash, which Arsenal is not willing to do at this stage.
It is claimed that the Gunners want the Croatian winger to be loaned with a £ 35 million buy option.
Inter's manager, Piero Ausilio, seemed to announce the end of Arsenal's hopes of signing Perisic after hinting that the Nerazzurri had not yet received an adequate offer for his services.
"Perisic wants to go abroad, but there are no suitable offers," Ausilio said.
"If he stays, I expect him the same professionalism as usual.
"We intend to get it back on track and that should not be a problem. I do not think it will take very long.
"I can say that the inter transfer market is closed.
"We had some fitness problems with Sime Vrsaljko and we did well to immediately close the gap with Cedric Soares. [from Southampton].
"Inter has had a difficult history in recent years, having changed owners three times, but we now have a strong and ambitious owner who, with time and patience, can achieve great things."
However, with Perisic making an unfortunate figure and the winger desperate to force the move, Inter may need to rethink his strategy if he does not want to end up with an unhappy player.
But with only a few hours left, the player remaining in San Siro seems the most likely result.
