The National Democratic Congress (NDC) withdrew from the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election following a shootout at the residence of the party's candidate, Mr. Kwasi Delali Brempong.
NDC National President Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the decision was made in consultation with Brempong.

According to him, Mr. Brempong is essentially "taken hostage" at home.
