Reece Oxford went to Germany for a third loan, after being loaned to FC Augsburg until the end of the season and escaped West Ham again.
The 20-year-old had already been loaned twice to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017/18, but failed to win in Manuel Pellegrini's first season this season.
The Hammers' manager has said twice in recent months that Oxford had to leave West Ham to play a few matches after being stuck with under-23s throughout the season.
Pellegrini said last week: "This is a player who has already played in the Bundesliga and he has the opportunity to continue to improve, on loan or for sale, I think he needs to do it because he needs experience. "
Now Oxford, who also admitted he might need to go in search of first-team football, seems to have found him in Augsburg, fourth in the bottom of the Bundesliga with only three wins in 19. games.
Oxford also had a loan period in Reading during the 2016/17 season under Jaap Stam, which also did not produce the expected results. He became the youngest player in West Ham at age 16 and 198 days after making his debut in the club during a 3-0 Europa League win against Andorran club Lusitanos in 2015.
