Callum Roberts celebrates after scoring his first goal for Newcastle against Blackburn in FA Cup

Joselu may not be going anywhere, but Callum Roberts, who plays in Newcastle, has joined League Two, Colchester.

He was a 6/1 winning edge for a striker at all times when the Toon played Blackburn in the FA Cup – so it remains to be seen if he can retain that form in front of the goal at more regular senior football.

BLUES ARE CLOSED ON ADAMS

The story of Che Adams continues to rage and Sky reports that a second candidacy of Burnley was refused by Birmingham.

Sky Bet make the Blues 1/3 to keep the forward beyond the limit but it's 9/4 from any club, with Southampton currently at 5/2.

The patron saint, Ralph Hasenhuttl, certainly seemed to want to do business on time.

"On the last day, there are always some options that come up suddenly and it shows us that it may be a chance to find an interesting player," he said.

"We are always busy and the last day is a day when everyone stops poker, then the cards arrive on the table and it is not a waste of time. Do something today. Let's take a look. "

Hola, Denis.

#BUTCHERISTANGERINE

Let's stop for a moment and enjoy the production levels of this tweet from Dundee United FC …

United has signed an 18-month loan with Calum Butcher and his manager, Robbie Neilson, said: "Calum will add strength and dynamism to our midfielder, who grew up as a player during his return to England and is an important addition to our team, he knows the Scottish game well and Dundee United, and I'm happy to have it signed. "

Meanwhile, Dundee FC have recruited Ryan McGowan and Ethan Robson from Bradford and Sunderland respectively.

POUNCE BLACK CATS ON MORGAN

Another loan deal is linked to the Sky Bet Championship as Sunderland seals a transfer for 22-year-old Celtic winger Lewis Morgan.

The man himself said, "I join coaches with whom I have worked before, and once I had the opportunity to speak with them, my decision was made.

"My game is based on scoring and creating goals, but I obviously try to work hard for the team, and that's the most important thing.

"Something special is happening at the club this season and I hope to be able to contribute."

At least Morgan, who has not scored yet this season, seems positive about the change.

"SHARP" McLOUGHLIN MOVES TO WIMBLEDON

AFC Wimbledon has signed with Shane McLoughlin a permanent contract with the Ipswich Sky Bet Championship club. The 21-year-old midfielder could be in contention for his debut with the Donations in the Ligue 1 game Saturday in Sunderland.

CHASING CARS

It does not appear that Hearts is concluding late contracts, manager Craig Levein declaring that he left tonight to watch Snow Patrol.

"No, I'm going to watch Snow Patrol tonight, my phone will be off, shiny, huh?"

Brilliant.

SCOTTISH SWITCH

Irish striker David McMillan was loaned to Hamilton. The 30-year-old arrives in Scotland after a successful period in Dundalk.

"During his time on the water, McMillan became the league's top scorer in the UEFA Champions League," according to the Accia website.

HOGAN makes the blades move

Scott Hogan is unveiled during Twitter's last signing session and has just been loaned by Ascot Villa until the end of the season.

He made a few appearances for Villa this season, including six league appearances, but was a mainstay of the previous season, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

PLYMOUTH SIGN JONES CENTER-BACK

Former Liverpool captain under 23, midfielder Lloyd Jones signed for Plymouth with fellow Sky Bet League, loaned until the end of the season.

He is a product of the Plymothian Argyle Academy, so another player "comes home" this transfer deadline.

SOUTTAR TO SECURE STAY HEARTS

Craig Levein, Hearts boss, revealed that defenseman John Souttar was about to agree on a new deal at Tynecastle. The defenseman returned to St Johnstone on Saturday after three months off with a hip injury and has another 18 months to complete his current contract.

But Levein said this morning: "I do not want to say too much, but we are very close to the signing of a new contract by John Souttar."

Hearts have already signed extended contracts to Christophe Berra and Michael Smith and Levein added: "There are also two or three others (who are about to accept new contracts) and this is based solely on the will to get the stability we are looking for. "

KAMARA ABOVE TURKEY

Controversial striker Aboubakar Kamara of Fulham is getting closer to the Turkish Yeni Malatyaspor movement, the Sports Press Association said.

BUNNEY BOUNCES RETOUR

N'KOUDOU AYANT MONACO MEDICAL

PELE SIGNES FOR FOREST!

The 27-year-old moves from MK Dons, who Neilson left early last year.

FELLAINI PASSES MEDICAL

Marouane Fellaini is one of those players who hobbles and limps his way around the pitch before a game has even kicked off but it's good news (I presume it's good news, Man United fans?) – he's pbaded his medical and will be linking up with Chinese Super League outfit Shandong Luneng, subject to all the paperwork going through in time.

Quite a significant statement from Ole Gunnar Solskaer to get rid of Jose Mourinho's go-to man. He was close to unplayable at times for Belgium in the World Cup and one would suspect he won't be easy to handle in China. He will be handsomely paid, that much is clear.

PAPER ROUND-UP

PSG's interest in Willian features quite heavily in today's Deadline Day Paper Talk but the strongest line from the back pages this morning would appear to be Real Madrid ramping up their interest in Man United striker Marcus Rashford, with a £100m bid being mooted in the summer.

It's a strange beast Deadline Day… it's never quite going to be the same since the young fella waving this item behind the camera outside Stoke's ground a couple of years back. It's all a bit clinical now isn't it?

Anyway, there's a spot of snow around, particularly in the north west based on the shots from outside Everton's training ground this morning, which has spiced things up a bit.

The Toffees are reportedly trying to hang on to Idrissa Gueye, with interest from Arsenal and one or two others. They are also showing some interest in saving Michy Batshuayi from his tough time out on loan at Valencia, but the costs could be just out of reach.

Here we go then, it's almost over. The doors to Vegan-uary slam at midnight tonight. I sincerely hope you've enjoyed it. Roll on Fat February.

Before then, though, we're counting back from 11pm which is the deadline for the January transfer window. Scottish clubs have that vital extra hour to get the deals over the line, don't forget.

So who goes where?

Well, Sky Sports are reporting some interest in William from French giants PSG, which is relatively interesting if you're that way inclined, with Chelsea could make a move for Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Fulham are one of three Premier League clubs who are pursuing Birmingham striker Che Adams, who has been in great form in the Sky Bet Championship, while Arsenal are still waiting to tie up the loan deal which will see Denis Suarez become a Gunner – on loan.

It didn't work out badly for another Suarez who joined the Premier League mid-way through the season a few years ago…

Sky Bet have a bunch of Transfer Specials on the go, including 'Jim White Deadline Day Bingo', and you can gently peruse the markets throughout the day by clicking on the image below.
