Coppa: Lazio will eliminate Inter on penalties!

Mauro Icardi's penalty late in the game forced the shots on goal, but Radja Nainggolan missed the match while Lazio eliminated Inter to hold a Coppa Italia semi-final with Milan.

The Nerazzurri had a difficult start in 2019 and had to return to the Coppa Italia track, but missed Keita Balde Diao, Sime Vrsaljko and Stefan de Vrij. Ivan Perisic was only on the bench when his transfer request from Arsenal was rejected, while Borja Valero stopped with a muscle problem during warm-up and was replaced by Joao Mario. The Biancocelesti had to do without Luiz Felipe, Patric and Danilo Cataldi, suspended.

Lazio has not beaten Inter since a Coppa Italia 2-1 quarter-final at San Siro exactly two years ago: 31 January 2017. A draw was then followed by four games played, at home and away.

Marcelo Brozovic's volley flew high and wide, while Ciro Immobile broke through the post, although he was offside. Antonio Candreva escaped two times in a row and Lazio spoiled a counterattack with a weak, Luis Alberto, finishing directly to Samir Handanovic.

Moments later, Inter's goalkeeper had to work much harder to parry a motionless volley shot on the turn at the base of the near post. Visitors were beginning to invade the penalty area and Miranda did just enough to prevent Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from acquiescing.

The first immobile touch dropped him on a clever Correa, allowing Handanovic to sneak out of line and smother his feet.

The Inter goalkeeper stole a curler Luis Alberto under the bar, then managed to parry a Senad Lulic daisy that had pbaded between Francesco Acerbi's legs.

Milinkovic-Savic had a lot of power, but not enough precision to beat Handanovic on a fantastic form, but despite all his domination, Lazio was likely to fall behind on 61 minutes.

Thomas Strakosha only beat Joao Mario's snapshot – Inter's first shot – and Antonio Candreva managed to reverse the rebound a few meters from the open goal.

Handanovic was again called to the game in a still striker and Candreva's solo effort touched the distance. Wallace simultaneously managed to secure a reservation for a rugby tackle on Miranda at a counter and injuring himself at the same time, while his chin was touching the heel of the opponent.

Despite the victory of the infamous winner in his battle for fourth place last season, substitute Matias Vecino has always had a free header on a stopped game and skimmed the crossbar.

In the last minute, Felipe Caicedo almost scored for the first time, while Lazio escaped from a corner of Inter and that still gave him the advantage but the substitute was refused by another handsome Rescue of Handanovic. The goalkeeper came to the rescue again, putting the motionless Curler within reach in the lower corner.

Lazio has almost paid for all these mistakes, as at 94th Strakosha's minute was made to sting the gloves by an effort from Matteo Politano at the last post and Lautaro Martinez slipped on the rebound, scoring the goal of opening the ball six yards.

There was still time for another turn, while Miranda made a decisive tackle on Caicedo without fail. Neither side could win and they went into overtime, although Simone Inzaghi was sent to the stands for dissent.

Icardi's head was torn off, but there was controversy when Icardi rejected the penalty calls for a Milinkovic-Savic push in the back and after discussing it with the VAR stand for several minutes, the Arbitrator does not choose to see it himself. .

At Coppa Italia this season, the teams are entitled to a fourth replacement in overtime. Inter therefore introduced Radja Nainggolan and her beginner Cedric Soares.

The impbade was finally lifted when Immobile exchanged a series of pbades with Caicedo, his goal taking a deflection of Danilo D'Ambrosio's head on the wrong foot, Handanovic, at the far post.

Nainggolan was hit, but Kwadwo Asamoah received a flawless red card for a deep tackle just before Milinkovic-Savic's ankle. However, the referee saw him on VAR and changed his mind to make it a yellow.

At the 124th minute, the referee gave Danilo D'Ambrosio a free-kick on the edge of the box, which checked Milinkovic-Savic's body integrity, but VAR showed that he was in the penalty area. Stefan Radu was fired for dissent. Icardi kept his composure under immense pressure to convert the free kick under Strakosha's wrist to equalize the last extra kick.

This meant that the goals went to penalties and Lautaro Martinez witnessed a low and central effort saved by Strakosha, but Handanovic immediately canceled the shot by pushing Riza Durmisi's post.

Icardi once again faced Strakosha and opted for a delicious Panenka chip, but Nainggolan inflicted a too high penalty, which earned him a goal from the goalkeeper, but he went over the bar anyway.

Lucas Leiva kept his cool and converted the decisive penalty by sending Lazio to the Coppa Italia semifinal against Milan after eliminating Inter.
