The Boston-based investment firm Fidelity has just confirmed rumors about a new cryptocurrency trading platform and a depository service for institutional investors. The firm also announced that the project was in the final test phase.
In October 2018, the company created FDAS (Fidelity Digital Asset Services), a subsidiary dedicated to working with digital badets. This decision has inspired rumors and speculation about a new crypto-trading platform held by Fidelity, although the company has not confirmed anything until today.
In their announcement, Fidelity stated that the platform would provide services to institutional investors accustomed to the high quality services offered by the company. Fidelity also works with the auditors to put in place the appropriate procedures and policies.
Fidelity and crypto: since 2015
The investment company had previously entered the crypto space in 2015. It was unusual at the time, the other financial giants do not share the optimistic views of Fidelity on the cryptocurrency sector. However, FDAS leader Tom Jessop felt that institutional investors had developed an interest in the new badet clbad. The problem was the lack of trusted platform providers, which is why Fidelity decided to enter the cryptocurrency market.
Fidelity is in the process of refining its new platform and selecting several eligible customers who will be the first to test their new services.
