Regarding reforms to improve the well-being of teachers, President Akufo-Addo also announced that "the government is working with other key actors to develop a comprehensive policy for teachers based on of UNESCO in order to improve the lot of our teachers ".

To this end, he said that Ghana also needed a team of well-trained and motivated teachers, capable of providing the educated and skilled workforce that the country needed to transform its economy and succeed.
Tribute
President Akufo-Addo paid tribute to the late Thomas Ango Bediako, who gave his name to the hall. He has been described as a remarkable and Ghanaian patriot.
He said that the GNAT was what it was today thanks to the work of its pioneers, including the late Bediako, who, he said, deserved this honor to be remembered.
He badured that the work of Mr. Bediako and many others who would follow him would not be in vain under his administration.

For her part, Ms Larsen encouraged the president to contribute to the good resolution of the arrears, promising the cooperation of GNAT in the process.
She also paid tribute to Mr. Bediako, who, along with Mr. Mike Senoo, mobilized teachers from all over the country to join the badociation when she was withdrawn from the Trades Union Congress of Ghana (TUC) in 1962.
A copy of the late Bediako's biography was presented to President Akufo-Addo.
