The legend of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, is presented as the future sports vice-president of Camp Nou.
And his first job could be the unenviable task of ensuring the departure of the Catalan club Lionel Messi.
Aged 39, he left Barcelona in 2015 and still plays for Qatari club Al Sadd SC, although he is about to retire.
Victor Font, one of Barcelona's leading presidential candidates, outlined his vision of the club and revealed that he was in discussion with the former Spanish midfielder about a leading role .
He says their most difficult task will be managing the final stages of Messi's career, 31, as he approaches the end of his remarkable career.
"I agree with Xavi, as far as the project is concerned, and I personally like to talk to him about football," Pont said.
"I hope he can lead our football project.
"We have many challenges over the next five to ten years.
"One of the main, and one of the first, is managing the late Lionel Messi (while he is preparing to retire)."
The presidential elections at Nou camp are expected to be held in 2021, with Font already at the top of the ranking.
The Catalan businessman has unveiled his plans supported by many influential personalities, including former skipper Carlos Puyol and sponsor of the major club, Grifols.
