Arsenal was tied to a move for PSG star Nkunku, the day of the transfer deadline in the middle of their search for a midfielder.
The Gunners started the day with the goal of sealing contracts for up to four players. Denis Suarez, Ivan Perisic, Yannick Carrasco and Nkunku were all in their sights.
The deadline has pbaded, however, with Suarez arriving from Barcelona as the only rookie of the day.
And BBC Sport journalist Ornstein says PSG president Tuchel has blocked Nkunku's departure because of his tense relationship with Mislintat.
"The latest deal is that Thomas Tuchel vetoed," he said. BBC Radio 5 Live.
"He does not want that to happen, he wants Nkunku to be at his disposal to play, he has a lot to do.
"There is also a bit of politics involved, of course.
"The relationship between Tuchel and Sven, outgoing Director of Recruitment, Sisl Mislintat, has had a tumultuous end. [at Borussia Dortmund].
"He (Nkunku) will have to sign a new contract with PSG to protect his value this summer."
Suarez's signature was challenged by Gunners legend Alan Smith.
Smith was not inspired by the Spaniard's signature, including being a player on the team.
He told Sky Sports: "Arsenal fans would have loved to see a little more business, but they managed to get Denis Suarez.
"How much will he play when you think he can be a bit of a team player?"
"Unai Emery knows him from Seville, he is versatile, while another young boy from Smith Rowe went to Germany to save time.
"I do not think Emery would have abandoned it.
"And it will be good for his education, so hopefully he can come back as a better player."
