The CoinGate team announced that the platform now supports XRP payments for merchants. CoinGate explained that this decision was due to popular demand from the XRP community to have the digital good accept payments from more than 4,500 providers on the network. CoinGate then explained why the addition of XRP was necessary:
We are pleased to serve the needs of the large XRP community and to significantly expand the use of this digital badet. As one of the first payment gateways to natively deal with XRP, we hope to dramatically improve its usefulness.
For our merchants, it is also a very big deal, because at present, the XRP enters a category of the largest markets of cryptocurrency in terms of capitalization. Therefore, we are confident that this integration will definitely bring more customers to our merchants rather soon.
Suppliers receiving XRP payments have the option to instantly settle income in Euros, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) or keep the funds in XRP.

Members of the XRP community quickly applauded CoinGate's move. One of these members went so far as to say that XRP is the only digital badet that his company accepts.
