Armenia sends 30,000 doses of vaccine to Georgia after the measles outbreak

PanARMENIAN.NetArmenia will send 30,000 doses of measles vaccine for GeorgiaHealth Minister Arsen Torosyan said in a Facebook message.

This initiative will help the neighboring country to fight the measles epidemic more effectively and quickly, because, said Mr Torosyan, "diseases know no borders".

According to him, he discussed the issue with his Georgian counterpart, Davit Sergeenko, who said that there were currently 1028 new cases of measles in Georgia, because many children had not been vaccinated in the 1990s.

The minister added that the last case of measles in Armenia was recorded in 2007 thanks to high vaccination rates. The last time the disease was transmitted to Armenia in December 2018, a pbadenger from the Russian Federation arrived in the country. However, the disease has not spread in Armenia.
