Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said jokingly that he could not bring himself to back Arsenal against Manchester City on Sunday, although a win for the Gunners would benefit his team.
The Spurs beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday, placing them in second place in the Premier League with 57 points – one more than City.
Pep Guardiola's City team will play against Arsenal, fifth, on Sunday, with 47 points for the Gunners.
A win for City would increase Tottenham's chances of being in the top four, but a win at Arsenal would keep them second behind Liverpool.
And of course, after the victory of Newcastle, Pochettino was asked to encourage Arsenal, Tottenham's rival in North London, in tomorrow's game.
Pochettino said about the situation: "No, why? Never."
"I'm going to watch the game, I'm going to watch the game and be happy with [whatever] result that happens. "
The victory of the Spurs on Saturday allowed them to return to the title race. Liverpool will face West Ham on Monday, but Pochettino has refused to speculate on their chances of winning the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
"In football, anything is possible, anything can happen, the most important thing is to be ready for next Sunday against Leicester."
