Starting this month, Tesla will include a new CCS adapter with all new S and X model orders in Europe so owners can take advantage of CCS fast charging networks on the old continent, according to an update posted on their website. website.

Tesla has always used its own charging connector in its vehicles to work with the Supercharger network in North America.
In Europe, the company used the Type 2 connector, but Tesla confirmed that Model 3 was instead receiving a CCS form.
In December, the manufacturer began to equip the European Supercharger stations with "dual-load cables" to support the existing connector and the CCS standard.
This was an advantage for Model 3 because it could use both the Tesla Supercharger network, the company upgrading more stations, and the new CCS charging networks, such as Ionity and Fastned.
But at the time, Tesla also badured owners of Model S and Model X that a CCS adapter would arrive for their vehicles.
Now, Tesla has updated its load connector support page in Europe to show that the new CCS adapter is standard on "All S and X models with custom order from February 1st". Update: Tesla now says it was a mistake on their part and that it will not be the norm.

Tesla indicates that homeowners will be able to charge up to 120 kW with the adapter or with the CCS port with respect to model 3, and that the limitation concerns "the car and not the adapter".

The device is not yet available for sale for existing owners and seems to be the only standard on European sales.

I think Tesla's owners will still mostly use the Tesla Supercharger network, but the adapter could still be useful to some, thanks to the development of third-party networks.
The company probably makes it standard in Europe because it would provide an additional benefit to model 3 buyers over S model and X model buyers, but I suppose they will make the adapter available everywhere at any given time because it can also be useful. to some North American owners too.
The EVgo and Electrify America networks are starting to receive a few stations that support Tesla's charge rate and even though Tesla's Superchargers will probably be more convenient in most cases, you never know.
