Seungri of BIGBANG shared a statement in response to controversies surrounding the Burning Sun Club.
Hello. It's Seungri.
I want to first bow down and sincerely apologize to all those who felt uncomfortable or worried about the recent incident and the controversy that happened to me. Because of this incident, the last few days have been like an unbearable nightmare, and I was confused about where and how I should start talking about it.
I'm sorry for my delayed official statements and my apologies. People around me have dissuaded me that a hasty explanation can cause greater misunderstandings at a time when uncertain information was already snowballing.
I was not on the scene when the incident of aggression at the origin of this controversy occurred. A few days later, I learned about the incident through a staff member, but I only learned in the beginning that there had been aggression on both sides between a client and an employee and that was under police investigation. Due to the nature of the place of business, conflicts and fights often occur, so I hoped that it would also be resolved peacefully without big problem.
Later, I saw the excerpt from the incident for the first time in the media and I was also very shocked. The violence can not be justified under any circumstances and I sincerely apologize to the victim who was injured as a result of this incident. I hope that your mental and physical injuries will heal as quickly as possible.
I got involved for the first time in the club when BIGBANG briefly interrupted the promotions and I started the solo promotions. Using the time spent outside of my solo promotions, I started with the innocent mindset of wanting to try to work as a DJ, what I wanted to do, in a place where I could freely play music at any moment.
Just in time, I had the chance to become executive director in charge of promotions in a club. Since I was a celebrity, I was responsible for the club's public promotion.
Exploiting and managing the club were not my roles, and I deeply apologize for not showing myself responsible at the beginning of the incident because I had not been involved in these roles from the beginning.
The problem that started with an aggression case is now covered by reports on drugs. I have not seen or heard anything about it. I will therefore actively cooperate with investigations and hope that a harsh punishment will be imposed if a crime is revealed during the investigation. I will also take full responsibility if there is anything I need to be responsible as executive director at that time.
While going through this incident, I learned a lot about the responsibility and attitude of a celebrity. I apologize once again to all the participants for having worried them as a result of this incident. I will work hard to become more mature and caring.
Respectfully,
Seungri, Lee Seung Hyun
On January 28, MBC's "Information Desk" aired an article about Mr. Kim, accused of being badaulted by the Burning Sun Director and security agents after trying to help a badually harbaded woman at the club. After suffering injuries, including broken ribs, he stated that he was later arrested and badaulted by the police. Police reacted with a press release containing details about the incident and the investigation, and the controversy grew as suspicions of corruption between the police and the club, drugs, badual badault and other problems were revealed.
Since then, Burning Sun Entertainment has released a statement signed by CEOs Lee Sung Hyun and Lee Moon Ho explaining video surveillance footage of a woman trailed down the hallway of the club. Director Jang of Burning Sun also aired more CCTV footage on E-Daily, while a government petition was presented to the House Blue's petition committee for a thorough investigation into the case and the police involved.
