Sir Elton John performing in Wellington in 2015.
The Elton John Farewell tour, which will visit New Zealand next summer, has been hailed as one of the most "energetic, dazzling celebrations of originality and joy" of the star.
The tour promises a "rare glimpse" of John's life through rare images and videos that will air throughout the show.
The last time John played in New Zealand in November 2015, he performed in front of some 30,000 spectators at the Westpac stadium in Wellington.

Things Critic Bob Mason called the show a "magistrate".
John's clothes were less sumptuous than at his golden age, Mason described his diamante blue jacket ("fairly restrained by his standards"), but the performance was still dazzling.
"Celebrating forty years of the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, the show was packed with early successes and clbadic clbadics: the epic grandeur of Rocket Man, the challenge of I am still standing, the final breeze of Crocodile Rock.
"Whenever his voice needed a little break, he just confided the chorus tasks to the audience.
"And in the midst of all this flamboyance, there was a touching dedication of Do not let the sun go down on me to Jonah Lomu, "wrote Mason after the 2015 concert.
"With his sincere appreciation of the All Blacks, Black Caps and Kiwi hits, Elton made everyone understand that your audience looks ridiculously easy. he would come back, as long as the public would allow it.
"A splash of gilded fireworks in the end was a typical finishing touch of Elton.Children, if you dream of being a superstar, that's the way to do it," concluded Mason.
John also made headlines here in 2015 when he arrived in New Zealand in a private jet just a few hours before going on stage and returning directly to the airport after the show.
When he comes back next summer, John may be in a hurry as he arrives on a tour of 15 performances all over Australia and will leave to continue the world tour for another year. .
