The interim leader thinks his players will make the difference if the position is full-time next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks that his chances of getting the Manchester United manager position full time depend on the reaction of players to his methods.
Solskjaer was announced as a temporary substitute for Jose Mourinho in December following the sacking of the Portuguese coach. He had a remarkable impact.
United has not only won eight of his nine games at the helm, but the football they played is very different from the Mourinho team.
Publisher's choice
Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba – the once controversially controversial players of Mourinho – have excelled, becoming an essential element for United, an attacker.
The good start of Solskjaer has been called on to entrust him with this position permanently, but he insists that his players will have as much to do with such a situation as him, if that were to happen.
"This job is like a spinning wheel," he told reporters before Sunday's trip to Leicester City. "I have to improve the performance of the players.
"If I can improve the game of the team, the players answer me, see the results improve and show that the style of play is there, then it will be a big plus for me.
"If we work as a team and the players respond to that, it's a big advantage for the club." #MUFC

"But that's never been everything to me – I'm not here to talk about myself and other so-called great managers." What is a "big name" ?
"For me, this is the way you work with players and with the club, and if I set goals in terms of results, I think it would have been a bad process.
"When I arrived, it was to talk to players about their performances and what we expected from the game style.
"I knew that if we could play well, we would have enough points to be ranked in the top four by the end of the season."
Solskjaer officially joined United after leaving Molde, provided he returns to the Norwegian club at the end of the season.
However, Solskjaer says that even Kjell Inge Rokke – the owner of Molde – wants him to get United's position full-time.
"When I called the owner of Molde to tell him that United had called, he always knew it was my dream," added Solskjaer.

"Do you know what he said to me?" He said, "Come on, have fun – and please, do not come back. "
"In fact, the two Molde owners have wished me the best because they knew it was something I dreamed of. Getting support from them was fantastic.
"Of course, if I go back to Molde, I'll do my best for them – but it depends on my return now."
