A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital after being injured during a confrontation with security personnel during a ticket check on a Stockholm subway train.

The first police report, released shortly after Thursday at 8 pm, indicated that a "brawl would have broken out about returning a woman from a train" to Hötorget metro station. "In connection with this, the woman fell and was taken to the hospital by ambulance."

The incident sparked a debate about racial profiling and violence by security agents. The videos posted on the social media of the incident show the woman, who was pregnant and traveling with a young child, was removed from the train, apparently against her will.

"That should not surprise anyone, even if the victim is pregnant," Lovette Jallow, author and activist who founded Black Vogue, a make-up artist for dark skinned people, wrote on Instagram.

"I understood that many mobile camera films reporting these comments suggested that the security agents were too strong," said Henrik Palmér, spokesman for the Stockholm SL public transport company.

"Unfortunately, it's hard to make reasonable judgments in these situations, it's stressful, and obviously it has not been handled properly since the beginning," he added.

Police will now investigate both the woman and the guards on the incident. She is accused of having violently resisted their efforts to get her off the train and the guards are accused of serious misconduct or aggression, a policeman told Aftonbladet newspaper.

The two security guards were also suspended while waiting for an SL internal investigation.
