Even though we had only held by-elections in one of 275 constituencies across the country, the police could not bring their men together to enforce order, safety and security. It's extremely shocking, disconcerting and unacceptable !!
Is it true that the IGP and the Ghana Police Service have been intimidated by PNP / Government vigilance forces? Did the police and NPP militia work together and drive in the same police vehicles?
The militia were armed with lethal weapons in the light of the forces of order. If, as it appears, the police worked together with the armed militia, then they could be accused of complicity in the criminal conduct of the militias.
Many more questions remain to be solved in this shameful, backward, lawless and very dangerous event that has just unfolded
It is said that future events throw their shadow. Without the timely intervention of the NDC party leaders, many lives could have been lost.
As a member of the delegation of the NDC, composed of 50 members, who met the IGP and the Commissioner of Elections, respectively, in the heat of the moment, I dared to say that the institutions were momentarily powerless. It was obvious that the militia were in control, a perception that remains to be refuted. The EC made no public statement to the police contingent placed under their "command" and who was in the polling stations at their invitation. Since then, they have not arrested anyone, despite the pictures and videos available to them.
I ask that an in-depth independent investigation be conducted to ensure that all the culprits involved in this heinous incident are brought to justice.
The Electoral Commission could have deferred the elections in the areas affected by the violence to allow the inhabitants to vote later, without the threat of violence, but by tacit approval of the disordered developments that had been premeditated and orchestrated.
the advantage of the nuclear power plant undermines public confidence. Electoral security was a total failure
We call on the international community to condemn this violence, sponsored by a senseless, cowardly and barbarous government.
While we sympathize with the families of all the injured, I can badure that the NDC will seek justice, sooner or later!
We call for calm in the ranks of the NDC and advocate that our supporters do not resort to violence to defend themselves. We can win the following elections by non-violent means. We call for free and fair elections without intimidation
This country deserves the peace, the unity, the stability and the harmony for which its people prays.
