Cesc Fabregas scored his first goal with Monaco to give the troubled principality their first win in Ligue 1 in seven games, beating Toulouse 2 to 1 Saturday.

The Spanish midfielder, who left Chelsea last month, responded in the second half to help Monaco move from 19th to 18th in the standings and win its first home win in the league.

They have 18 points in 23 games and are tied with Caen, 17th, who has one game less.

In the second game of coach Leonardo Jardim since returning to the bench after Thierry Henry's dismissal, Monaco has shown steel.

They opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Aleksandr Golovin grabbed a center from Gelson Martins, but Christopher Jullien came back tied five minutes later.

Fabregas, however, restored the advantage with a right-footed shot below the bar in the 62nd minute.

In Jardim's first game in the lead earlier this week, Monaco was knocked out of the Guingamp League Cup semi-final on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
