Yesterday, Facebook organized a media event to announce its intention to integrate local business advertising with the Places feature, but during the Q & A session that followed the event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg made a startling statement : the iPad is not mobile.

The characterization came after a guest asked Zuckerberg when the iPad would get a native application on Facebook.

The answer? Never. Facebook expects you to use the Facebook website on the iPad. And why? Because Facebook creates apps only for mobile devices and "the iPad is not mobile … it's a computer."

We are sure that Steve Jobs would disagree … and after saying it, it seems that Zuckerberg realized that he was risking himself the wrath of the man, clarifying quickly that he did not try to be rude to Apple and that "we all love Apple products", but that "the iPad is just not mobile in the same way".

I think the iPad is definitely more mobile than even a laptop, but I must say that Zuckerberg has at least one point about a native app for iPad: although the screen of the IPhone is just too small to use the clbadic Facebook site, there is absolutely no reason not to use the usual Facebook website on the iPad.
