Apple had previously claimed that the fluffy proximity sensor of the iPhone 4 had been corrected by the iOS 4.1 update. But there was more and more evidence that the proximity sensor was not repaired at all.

Shortly after the release of iOS 4.1 on the iPhone, Ryan Bell performed a series of comprehensive tests using the Apple iPhone Configuration Utility. iOS 4.1 does not repair the proximity sensor.

Proximity sensor problems were caused by software bugs, displacement of the proximity sensor due to the addition of the front camera, or greasy hearing ducts.

But now that Apple has released the iOS 4.2.1 update to the general public, we've all become Proximity Sensor beta testers for iPhone 4. Together we can overload source tests to see if the proximity sensor is finally repaired.

So clean your ear cbads, screw the iPhone 4 for a moment, make a few phone calls and share the results of your tests with the upgrade to iOS 4.2.1.

Please indicate, by voting in the survey below, whether or not the update corrects the problems you have encountered with the iPhone 4 proximity sensor. Vote below – is the proximity fixed or not? ?

UPDATE: If you answer "No" to the survey and use a holster on your iPhone 4, please leave a comment with the manufacturer, brand and case model you are using.
