There has been an increase in cancer-related treatments due to an increase in the detection rate

KALATUK, TURBAT: Every year on February 4th, World Cancer Day is celebrated to raise awareness of the debilitating disease known as cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

World Cancer Day was created by the Union for International Cancer Control to support the goals of the 2008 World Cancer Declaration.

Although it can be said that more people are now aware of the disease, cancer screening has unfortunately increased over the years. In 2016, it is estimated that 1,685,210 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in the United States alone and approximately 595,690 people died of the disease.

Even in Pakistan, there has been an increase in the number of cancer treatments due to an increase in the number of screenings. Following this, on February 4, we should be conducting awareness campaigns on how to protect ourselves against cancer and asking people to be monitored regularly so that early detection is done and lives are saved.
