Emotional tributes rendered
Brentford defender Yoann Barbet paid an emotional tribute to his former teammate earlier this week.
"I can not understand. So sad, "said Barbet.
"I played two years with Emiliano in Bordeaux. It was a big boy.
"He came from Argentina and does not speak French, but he learned the language very quickly, which helped him settle. At first, he did not seem to be as talented as he was not a very technical player. But he had what the Argentineans call "La Grinta" – he was so determined to work and improve. He worked so hard at training every day.
"When I saw that he was going from Nantes to Cardiff, I was not at all surprised, he did it so well. Wherever he went – Bordeaux, Orleans, Niort, Caen and Nantes – everyone said that he was a great personality around the place and left a very good impression.
"So it's a terrible shock to turn on the phone last week and see what happened. You prayed that he be found. Unfortunately, this did not happen and hopes gradually faded.
"It's a real tragedy and my thoughts are with the families of Emiliano and the pilot, as well as their friends. It's sad. I lost a friend. "
