Secretary of State for National Security, Bryan Acheampong
State Minister for National Security Bryan Acheampong has embarrbaded the presidency with acts and inactions following the violence in Ayawaso West-Wuogon, said the commissioner for human rights and human rights. to administrative justice, Joseph Whittal.
According to him, the deployment of security guards masked by national security has ruined Ghana's respected rights to respect human rights and the rule of law.
Speaking to Francis Abban Monday morning, Mr Whittal said he hoped the president would take the necessary steps to restore order on the security front in the country.
"We are in a democratic situation and national security and the armed forces are all subject to democratic control. The acts and inaction of the minister hinder the president, who is an apostle of the rule of law. The IGP and its command have no idea who these young masked men were and so investigations are needed. Masked men must be punished according to the law, "he said.
Mr. Acheampong admitted that the men who had been deployed to Ayawaso during Thursday's by-election were his men and that they were on hand to be notified.
The violence that characterized the polls has been condemned by several civil society groups in the country.
At the same time, a security badyst, Prosper Addo, said that the Ayawaso incident was reprehensible and that politicians should be bold enough to talk about things that are not going well, even if their party does it.
"Some key security actors could have been brought in to help if police officers in Bawaleshie were not sufficient to handle the situation on the ground. My question is, "Under what circumstances were they deployed to do what they did in Bawaleshie?"
