The locations were confirmed by a Polimarase Chain Reaction (PCR) and serological tests carried out as part of Onderstepoort Veterinary Research's transboundary animal disease program.
"The animals affected by the outbreak are cattle kept in rural villages with diptanks and communal pastures.The affected villages are close to each other within a radius of 20 km. Cattle within 20 km around the affected villages is 15,000, of which 4,500 are in the FMD free zone, "Zokwana said.
No cloven hoofed animals allowed
Regarding the FMD management zone, Zokwana stated that no split-hoofed animals are allowed to move within, inside or outside the country. outside the area.

Zokwana said the report contained compelling recommendations that would provide a sustainable path to cope with drought.
He added that some of the recommendations required a commitment from finance ministers, cooperative governance and traditional affairs.
To that end, Zokwana said he will work with ministers to ensure that ministry and industry teams conclude on the practical steps of implementation that will address the recommendations.
