George Hotz a.k.a GeoHot released the Mac version of limera1n, its jailbreak solution in 1 click. however, it will not unlock the device, which allows it to be used with different GSM operators in the world.
It is quite easy to use and works perfectly with my iPhone 4. In addition to this tool, there is an application that installs automatically on the iPhone after jailbreak, which gives you the opportunity to install Cydia.
Here is how it works.
ingredients:
- An iPhone (3G or later) / Ipod touch (G2 or later) / iPad
- iOS 4.0.2 or later / iOS 3.2.1 or later for iPad
- limera1n tool available at limera1n.com
- iTunes 10 or later
- A wireless internet connection (to install cydia)
Now, let's start the procedure:
1. Download the limera1n tool. Double-click the zip file to extract the limera1n application and open it.
2. Make sure your iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad is connected to the Mac and click "Make It Ra1n". NOTE: This will NOT unlock your iPhone (which will allow it to be used with other operators).
3. Limera1n will tell you that the device is booting into recovery mode. Check the device screen and it should go off, then display an iTunes logo with a cable indicating that it is in recovery mode.
4. Limera1n will now ask you to "hold the home + power button" and then "release the power button". Then, the device is in DFU mode and you get an image of the limera1n logo on your device screen.
5. A few seconds later, limera1n displays the success message, click "OK" and close the application.
6. When the device restarts, make sure you have an active internet connection.
7. Go to the last page of the device's launchpad and open the limera1n application. NOTE: The application icon may appear blank but there is nothing to worry about.
8. Now select Cydia and press the 'install' button in the navigation bar. He will now download Cydia and then restart (update).
9. Once the unit is put back in place, Cydia will be installed. Congratulations! Your iOS device is now successfully jailbroken.
Optional:
10. If you want to remove the limera1n application from the device, open it again and press' Uninstall will not cancel the jailbreak no matter how. The device will now resurface and you will no longer have application.
