Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament, and Muntaka Mubarak, Chief Whip of Minorities
Deputy Minister of Information Pius Enam Hadzide condemned the unparliamentary confrontation between Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Chief Whip of the Ghanaian Parliament, and Kennedy Agyapong, Central Member of Parliament of Assin, at the center of the capital.
There was a tragedy in Parliament on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 when the two legislators clashed in the House, exchanging insults.
Without the timely intervention of their colleagues in the Legislative Assembly, the two men would have been trapped.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", MP Enam Hadzide called on lawmakers to behave respectfully and respect the democratic structures of the House.
He noted that Parliament is an "embodiment of democracy" and that the use of non-printable words on the ground should therefore not be encouraged.
"I see a disturbing trend that is developing especially in our Parliament of the month of August. It is the incarnation of our democracy. Both MPs use non-printable words against each other; it's something Ghana and culture should not encourage, "he told Kwami host Sefa Kayi.
For him, both members of Parliament demand respect and should use it to give good examples to Ghanaians.
