POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) – Three school districts in Idaho have been forced to close due to one of the worst influenza seasons in the state's recent memory.

The Idaho State Journal reports that the school districts of eastern Idaho, Firth, Shelley and Fremont, have closed all their schools because of the high number of students absent because of influenza illness.

Health officials urge parents to keep their children home from school if they are sick.

All schools in the Firth School District are closed Monday because of the flu. The Shelley School District announced that its schools would be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

The Fremont School District closed all its schools Friday after almost a third of its students were away on Thursday because of flu. The district announced that its schools would also be closed Monday because of bad weather.
