SALEM, Oregon. – A Republican representative from Kalamath Falls is looking to change the name of the Portland Trail Blazers to represent the entire state.

Oregon Rep. E. Werner Reschke proposes that the NBA team change its name to Oregon Trail Blazers.

Reschke on Monday introduced the House's concurrent resolution 15, which states that "blazer" affects Oregon residents from all walks of life and from all parts of the state, regardless of where they live. live.

In the resolution, Reschke cites teams such as Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers as teams whose names are not badociated with a specific city.

Reschke said the name change would "recognize the importance of the team to the entire state of Oregon".

The Portland Trail Blazers name was adopted on February 6, 1970 when the team management group held a contest to allow fans to vote for the team's name. Trail Blazers was finally selected by the jury.
