Nearly two years have pbaded since Microsoft's laughable, misleading and uncommon ads, and you would think they would have learned something about their overly defensive appearance … but no! Just in time for the "Back to School" laptop sales war, Microsoft has launched an official section on Computers vs. Macs on its website.
Needless to say, it's ridiculously misleading.
Under "Compatibility", for example, Microsoft states:
In simple terms, if you use a computer, many of your favorite items may not work on a Mac. With PCs outperforming 10-to-1 Macs, the reality is that most software is designed to run on PCs.
What this propaganda ignores, of course, is that all modern Macs is a PC that is fully capable of booting on Windows to accommodate the vastly reduced number of programs and file types without native Mac badogues. If you do not follow a complicated hacking process, you simply can not start OS X on your PC if someone, for example, sends you an iMovie project.
Here is a little more dishonesty:
Things just do not work the same way on Macs if you're used to a PC. For example, the mouse works differently. And many shortcuts that you know well do not work the same way on a Mac.
Well, from this point of view, many shortcuts that I know well on a Mac do not work under Windows … at least without reminding me that I have to change the Command key for the Alt key. It's not rocket science. And despite this rhetoric, my laser mouse Microsoft attests that any mouse you want to connect to your Mac will work perfectly indiscriminately if it was connected to a PC.
In essence, Microsoft's message is simple: "The change is scary. Better to stay with a crappy product you already know than to spend a few hours making the transition to a superior product. It's an unscrupulous conversation, guys. What part of the Apple market should it take to Microsoft before starting to be progressive rather than defensive?
