The head of FX told television critics today that "Atlanta" will not air in 2019 because of the creator. Donald Glover 's schedule.
"We have so many programs that do not come back every year," said the head of FX. John Landgraf, citing other programs such as "Fargo" and "Taboo". "You have to decide on quality rather than quantity and we are deceiving in quality."
In this case, it's more about satisfying the creator in question. No Glover, no "Atlanta".
"Donald Glover is in a way the king of all the media and he has just lived an incredibly complicated life. He had personal problems that he had to deal with, such as injuries, but I prefer not to say publicly that it's not his personal life but his extended family, "Landgraf said.
This is not the first time that Atlanta is missing a calendar year.
The inventive and unpredictable show, which has won five Emmys, made its debut in 2016, jumped the year 2017 and was broadcast season 2 in 2018.
The other two main tracks of Glover – Brian Tyree Henry and Lakeith Stanfield – have seen their stars rise since the beginning of the how.
Henry has shot many movies, including "White Boy Rick," "Widows," "If Beale Street Could Speak" and "Spider-Man: In The Spider-Verse," and has several more in the box. He also did an acclaimed job on Broadway last year.
Stanfield starred in "Sorry to Bother You" last year and three films are expected to be released in 2019.
