Nicknames would be a way of relieving "family tension", as the Royals are "not very good at communicating". A royal source told the Sun: "The Royals do not communicate very well with each other, so it's one way.
"Nicknames are a way of relieving family tension."
They added that the Royals also like to use them to be stupid because they must be very serious in their public life.
They said, "They can also be a rather childish family. They love to play games and make stupid gifts.
"I think it's because they have to be so serious in their public life.
"The Royals have always played in private. So, William and Kate carry on a long tradition. "
They added: "It is generally done with affection and there are grains of truth about what one feels about the other".
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are apparently not left out in terms of nicknames.
Harry managed to score three characters related to three fictional characters: "Flash", referring to the fictional military officer Harry Flashman, as well as "Potter", nod to the famous wizard, and "Gromit" .
