Peter Boamah Otukonor, Deputy Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress
Deputy National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Secretary Peter Boamah Otukonor began beating drums of war before the 2020 elections.
He said that NDC members can fight and unleash violence better than the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Peter Otukonor warned the NPP to prepare effectively and face the NDC in the 2020 elections.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, who had recently launched a similar threat, was reprimanded by a section of Ghanaians.
But Mr. Otukonor, very angry, confirmed what Mr. Mahama said a few days ago.
"The NPP should be ready, yes, they should be preparing," said Monday the NDC executive in an interview with Nhyira Fm in Kumasi.
"We understood that the police, which is paid with the taxpayers' money, can not protect us, so we will prepare ourselves".
According to him, the NPP reportedly sent criminals cause chaos during the byelection in the district of Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Mr Otukonor said the NPP had shown that he would adopt the violence in the 2020 ballots at the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon.
"The NDC can fight better than the NPP and they (the NPP) are aware of this fact. But we did not fight in Ayawaso for reasons of peace.
"But the NPP should know that we will prepare well for them. Self-defense is allowed even in the Bible, and that's what we're going to do.
"If you're trying to kill a cat and you're failing, you should know what this cat is going to do to you," said Otukonor.
He condemned the unprovoked attacks against NDC members in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, stressing that the next time the NDC would prepare effectively.
