Cancer Copy Paste.jpeg Princess Dina Mired of Jordan urged Ghana to do more to reduce the high rate of cancer

Her Royal Highness, Princess Dina Mired of Jordan and President of the International Union Against Cancer, said that Ghana did not need to create entirely new systems to fight against cancer; all they need to do is to "copy and paste" effective methods that have already been implemented by other developed countries.

"Copy and paste what others do, you do not have to reinvent. Everything is there, but you need to have resilience, prioritize cancer and start working, "said UICC President

S addressing participants at the celebration of World Cancer Day in the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, the Jordanian Princess expressed her dissatisfaction with the rate of high mortality of people affected by the disease in Ghana.

Taking the example of her son's "survival story", she encouraged stakeholders to do more to save the lives of cancer patients in the country.

"You have to put systems in place. Nobody will build your infrastructure. If Jordan can do it, you can do it, "she said.

"You have great doctors, I have met a lot of you here in recent days. But we must systematize, we must put cancer first, "added Princess Dina.

The global event, titled "I Am and I Will," is held under the auspices of His Royal Highness, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), the Kumasi City Cancer Project and Union of International Cancer Control.

Speaking at the global celebration, Her Excellency Rebecca Akuffo-Addo said the unfortunate trend of cancer in Ghana would end if everyone plays their respective roles. She reiterated her husband's commitment to providing affordable and quality health care in the country.

She also called on all to promote a healthy lifestyle.

"We need to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We have to start somewhere and we have to start now! Said Ms. Akuffo-Addo.

In 2017, UICC selected Kumasi as the fourth largest city in the world and the first in Africa to be part of the C-Can 2025 cancer project at the World Leaders Summit in Mexico City.

It was after the Executive Director of the Kumasi Metropolitan Area, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, made a presentation that highlighted Kumasi's desire to become a key city in the fight against cancer on the African continent.
