Claude Puel risked angry star striker Jamie Vardy by rushing on Paul Pogba.
Vardy was photographed, appearing to hit Puel, calling him "f ** k *** "After spotting his boss talking to his compatriot Pogba after Manchester United's 1-0 win at King Power Stadium on Sunday.
And since then, Puel has praised Pogba, pointing to the World Cup winner as the reason for United's revival.
He told the French newspaper Le Parisien: "It's Pogba! He is completely at the origin of the awakening of Manchester.
"He became the leader of the team, placed higher, a kind of No. 10. It is decisive by his goals and his pbades. He drags the team behind him.
Asked about changes made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he became acting chief of United, Puel said: "Above all, he gave Pogba freedom.
"He was huge in the first games with the new coach. In the physical dimension, in its ability to break lines, to carry the ball forward, to enter the penalty area, to score.
"You can not put an individual on the man mark it. It is powerful, it can smell the good pbadage in the zone and advance quickly.
"We can not really stop it. It's a physical challenge almost impossible. It's a challenge to understand what he's going to do.
"He has a great vision of the game. With one or two pbades, he can give tremendous help, especially in defense.
"He sees very quickly and technically it is very developed. Some players are so productive that you build the team around them.
"It is happening today in Manchester United. There is Pogba and you are teaming around him because he has become an essential part of the eleven. "
