Gabby Otchere Darko Ghweb Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Private Counsel

The governing member of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) and close confidant of the president, Asare Otchere-Darko (Gabby), noted that the NPP is not competing with the National Democratic Congress for delaying Ghana.

"It burns the heart when there are elements to negatively compare the NPP to the NDC," wrote Gabby.

The Facebook publication of the private law practitioner comes days after former President Mahama said that no one could beat the NDC in triggering violence.

"The NDC has revolutionary roots and unleashes violence. Nobody can beat us by unleashing violence, "warned the NPP.

Mahama was responding to some violent incidents in the private residence of NDC candidate Delali Kwesi Brempong at the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon last Thursday.

Some members of national security stormed the residence and launched a shootout.

Some voters suspected of being NDC sympathizers were also beaten by gunmen.

Ningo Prampram MP Sam George was also badaulted by macho men.

The Minister of State for National Security defended the operation carried out by the gunmen, claiming that they were acting in the intelligence service.

Several civil society groups have condemned the attack and asked for investigations on it.

President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that those found guilty should comply with the law.

But the NDC of the opposition believes that it is a joke. They accused the NPP and the government of intimidation in the byelection and even called for the cancellation of the results.

Former President Mahama, who is preparing to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections, said he was facing all the problems of the NPP.

His comments drew a few frowning faces, including that of Sam Okudzeto, a member of the State Council, who described them as irresponsible.
